Seamless Expansion: Strategy to SMB

Where do SMBs fail?
When SMBs come out with a unique product or solution, how quickly can it be copied or recreated by a large player?
Slow in market identification?
Not going for big bang market expansion?

SMBs fail when they fail to identify the threat that they see from large players. SMBs can grow if they start taking up a collaborative approach to grow faster through strategic partners. For small ideas to reach global its important for SMBs to utilize the existing infrastructure and network of other players in the market who might be specialists in:
1. Local market sales/ presence
2. Knowledge on the market and customer behaviour
3. Niche IPs that can reduce both time and cost for deployment

If SMBs can identify the right strategic partner who can help then reach market faster rather than waiting for getting VC funds for expansion, growth is inevitble.

SMB Market in 2010

In 2009, big players like EMC, Cisco, Microsoft focused on building virtualization and cloud solution catering to the needs of both remote office users and small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). These were solutions built specifically for SMBs. In 2010, the trend will continue and even the large organizations will start adopting it. Even though the market looks huge for virtualization, there are some concerns that needs to be addressed.

Main Concern

Virtual servers are critical for SMBs as a small hardware failure on the virtual server could result in virtual desktops and servers becoming unavailable. Hence, business continuity becomes critical.

Why are we talking about this?
We are a company with strong focus on SMBs with SaaS and Cloud skills. We have implemented virtual environment within our organization and configuration of the systems that we had used as virtual desktops are:
1. Pentium 3 processor (we found few from our garrage)
2. 128 MB SD RAM (kind of treasure hunt!!!)
3. CD-ROM

There were no hard disks as we have created a bootable CD which will get directly connected to our server. The costs were minimal due to the usage of used systems. We have ensured that we drive green message by reusing the old PCs which would otherwise have gone as a e-waste

Performance

The performance is amazing as the speed of the systems is completely dependent on the Servers performace which we have ensured to be the best in class. Its cool as we will not be bothered about upgrading our systems. We will be able to manage all our work with our servers. Our engineers are happy and we are sure we will have good savings going forward.

If you need a free consultancy on setting up virtual environment, write to us at info@noesistec.com. We can arrive at an optimal solution which will reduce your opex.

New wave of outsourcing

The downturn has pushed companies from US and Europe to negotiate hard on price. The data shows that over the next few years the work volume is going to increase but the revenue projections might not match with the work load. (Its not based on head count anymore). What's happening in the outsourcing ecosystem?

Companies are interested in trying out new business models that will reduce pressure on their cash flow without disrupting their plans. They are moving away from contractor/vendor model to outcome based model. So companies are looking at revenue share, output based payments, fixed margin model and SLA based pricing.

Noesis is capable of handling such models subject various factors which Noesis considers to be key to the success of the engagement. Noesis has already started engaging with customers in these models. We have our own ways of evaluating the sustainability of the model. Noesis prefers part payment + revenue share model as it eases pressure on us as well. Write to us at info@noesistec.com or visit us at www.noesistec.com to know more about us.

Inaugration of new space

We have now moved into a new space with better facilities. We believe that our employees need a great work place to celebrate @ work, and I am sure this is the one. After the inaguration, we attended the "Silicon India - Mobile Conference". The event gave us a good opportunity to network with some of the entrepreneurs and industry experts.

We will be sitting down next week to brainstorm on some of the mobile related thoughts that are running in our minds.

Healthcare IT - Improving Overall Patient Experience

Healthcare IT has been one of our favorite topics simply because of the potential opporunity it provides for EMR-EHR product vendors and service providers. The $41000 stimulus package Obama govt is pushing for is a great impetus for US Healthcare providers to implement the much needed "IT" in their organization.

Dr David Blumenthal, National coordinator for HHS, in his recent interview had talked about improving patient experience. This is something which we have been researching on for quite some time now. How can healthcare providers improve overall patient experience, enable transparency and be proactive, rather than being reactive.

Enhancing overall patient experience is a very important aspect of Healthcare IT and this is beyond any EMR/EHR. There are various ways by which you can improve the patient experience and take it to a much higher level and this starts well before the time the patient walks into a clinic.

Healthcare providers need to create multiple touch points for their patients to fix their appointments, enable them to view their medical records through patient portals and better integration with the ecosystem by automating the entire workflow. Web and mobile are two of the most important mediums for patient touch points.

There are lot of best practices followed by healthcare providers to improve overall patient experience some of which are:
  • Enable scheduling via web/mobile mediums
  • Easy and error free capture of patient info/demographics by integrating with digital pens or touch screens
  • Reduce losses due to no show and provide alerts to physicians by integrating with mobile during patient encounter
  • Ensure immediate availability of transcripts by integrating with voice recognition engines and transcription workflow engine
  • Reduce errors and liabilities by integrating with ePrescription
  • Improve patient service levels by integrating with patient portals
  • Proactively educating patients on how to improve health and drug usage through SMS based alerts and flashes

By adopting these best practices, healthcare providers can engage with their patients very effectively and improve the overall patient experience.

Comments are welcome!
